The world premiere of a piece for 16 strings will be featured in the Chamber Music Society of Detroit 's 75th anniversary season finale. "Trading Fours" will be performed next Sunday at Orchestra Hall during a concert featuring four American string quartets playing individually and collectively. The composer is Jessie Montgomery, who also will be performing as part of the Catalyst Quartet. The piece was commissioned by the Chamber Music Society of Detroit through contributions from about 120 donors and ticket buyers. The organization similarly commissioned Samuel Barber to compose a work 65 years ago for its 10th anniversary. The Catalyst and the other quartets - Attacca, Dover, and Harlem - will be joined on the program by pianist Leon Fleisher. The concert also features pieces by Mendelssohn, Bach and Mozart.
