David Young

David Young Soul Ascension Meditations

David Young: singer songwriter multifaceted guitarist, double flute player, producer of sixty albums, over 1,000,000 Cds sold, 25,000,000 streams of his various projects, writer of four books and internationally known painter is known as a Renaissance man.

Young’s first college band in upstate NY included Joey Belladonna on drums and after David recognized his talent as a lead singer, gave him the front man position in their new group that included Scott Columbus on drums. Joey later became the lead singer of Anthrax and Scott became the drummer of Man-O-War.

David’s childhood friend Mark Reale from Brooklyn started the band Riot, who later released three albums in the 80’s and toured opening for Deep Purple, AC/DC and Sammy Hagar. In between record deals during a low point in Riot’s career, David played the flute on a semi classical intro of their demo song, “Bloodstreets” which got them another major record deal because of its uniqueness, transitioning from a classical guitar/ flute intro to a slamming metal song.  The video was played every Saturday night for three years on MTV’s Headbangers Ball.

In 1990, David ended up in Los Angeles out of money and played in a power trio with Dickie Betts’ drummer Matt Abst who later started Govt Mule with Warren Haynes and is now known as one of the worlds premier rock drummers.

After running out of money, Young began playing two flutes at one time at Venice Beach and sold 10,000 copies of his “Celestial Winds” tapes.

1993 Celestial Winds hired fretless bassist Tony Franklin (Pink Floyd, Jimmy Page, Paul Rodgers) and percussionist Steve Reid (The Rippington’s, Supertramp) and became the biggest selling independent artist and biggest selling import in Canadian history when Elton John was #1, Celestial Winds was #2.

In 1994, after Celestial Winds, David began to hire top session players in Los Angeles who recorded and toured with the biggest artists like James Taylor, Van Morrison, Rod Stewart, Tori Amos, Tracy Chapman, Little Feat and many more, eventually recording 70 albums of music in new age, acoustic SingerSongwriter, hard rock and everything in between.

In 1997, David wrote and produced the rock opera, “Woodstock, The Mystery of Destiny” with music business pioneer David Krebs, known for finding Aerosmith, AC/DC, Ted Nugent, The Scorpions, Def Leppard, Michael Bolton and Trans Siberian Orchestra.

Years later at the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock Museum Exhibit in Washington, DC, Young’s version of “By The Time We Got To Woodstock” was used as the theme song because of a legal issue involving the original recording made by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

In 1997, Young produced and co-wrote the film, “Village of Dreams” filmed in Rothenburg, Germany which was played hundreds of times on television stations across America and Germany in English and German. Young created the soundtrack and plays the angel of music who plays two flutes at one time and teaches little Julian why it’s important to listen to your intuition in the film.

By 2010, Young had sold over 1,000,000 CDs independently without any corporate help and had done over 1,000 weekend trade shows all over America, becoming a legend in the national art festival circuit, in the rock concert/club circuit, the gift industry and the spa industry,

Young began painting in 2011, selling thousands of copies of his soft abstract paintings at his shows and in 2017 won Best Booth at Art Basel in Miami in the Spectrum Section.

In 2019, after presenting 500 of his signature meditation events called, “A Portal Between Heaven and Earth” where 8,000 people over six years of doing four events each week shared having a conversation or spiritual travel with one of their loved ones, an Ascended Master or an Archangel, his 4th book was published. “The True Story of Jesus and his Wife Mary Magdalena” included 50 of his channeled paintings along with the most compelling story of what actually happened 2,000 years ago that was channeled by nine well known psychics who had come to his events. The book was hailed as revolutionary and its story and its use of QR codes with 12 songs as the background music for the 24 chapters.

In 2020, going back to his rock roots, Young wrote and recorded the bluesy rock album, “Love Is My Religion” which features his powerful vocals and stellar lead guitar with catchy grooves. The theme running through the album is the need to rise above our current political insanity with the song, “More Intelligence, Please!”

In 2022, Young recorded Love Wins and We All Live On with bassist extraordinaire Tony Levin, (Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, Paul Simon) and Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Sarah McLachlan, Paul McCartney) at Dreamland Studios in Woodstock, NY after David met Tony at a book signing in Rochester and traded books.

In 2023, Young was introduced to keyboard player Clifford Carter (James Taylor, Art Garfunkel, Cyndi Lauper) by producer Neil Dorfsman, (producer Sting, Dire Straits)

Young and Clifford Carter produced IN THE STARS, an Ambient album featuring Young’s trademark double flute technique and Carter’s breathtaking piano.

On the Ambient Jazz album, Young and Carter added Gregg Bissonette on drums (Ringo Starr’s All Starr Band, Santana Supernatural, and voted Best All Around Drummer 2023 Drummers World Mag) and fretless bass extraordinaire Tony Franklin (The Firm w Jimmy Page/Paul Rodgers, Pink Floyd)

With The Flute Man (Blues) 4 song EP, Young, Carter and Bissonette add LA session bassist Sean Hurley (John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Alanis Morisette.)

Hurley and Bissonette recently won Grammy’s for playing on Edgar Winter’s, Brother Johnny album.
