Well for Joey Alexander it's time to push aside talk of his age and focus on the music he's making. He has a deep understanding for the genre of jazz and for songs written decades before he was born. He has formed a superstar trio here with bassist Larry Grenadier (best known for a long association with Brad Mehldau, but someone that has also worked with Charles Lloyd, Herbie Mann, Pat Metheny, Paul Motian and several other legends of jazz) and drummer Kendrick Scott (a leader for a handful of albums and sideman to many recent stars including Terence Blanchard, Gretchen Pariato and Walter Smith III) and Warna is his true arrival I think; his fifth album since his 2015 debut.
