Jordi Savall is hugely respected both as an instrumentalist and as a music director across early music. Throughout his career he has made outstanding period instrument recordings, exploring the roots of European Musical tradition, and his masterly playing of the viola da gamba gave immense depth to the success of the film ‘Tous les matins du monde'. Jordi Savall brings Scotland, Brittany and the Basque country together for 'Celtic Universe' at Koerner Hall / The Globe and Mail
The accepted belief is that Jordi Savall's genius is in the range of the musical pilgrimages he takes audiences on. Wasn't it 1,000 years' worth of Venice just a concert season or so ago? To span the 400 years in some two hour...

Jordi Savall brings Hesperion XXI to Tanglewood / The Boston Globe
When talking about how he created his uniquely broad-sweeping life in music, Jordi Savall, the famed viola da gamba player, likes to quote a famous saying by Mark Twain about the two most important days in a person's life: "the day you were born, and the day you find out why." The first day, for the Spanish-born Savall, occurred in 1941. The second came some 14 years later, when he began to play the ...
