Following 2014's ecstatically-received album of French songs, Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez now takes the listener to Italy with a recording of popular Italian songs. The album – released on September 25, 2015 – includes many new arrangements and was recorded in the Italian seaside resort of Fano, adding extra depth to its authentic flavor. Flórez is joined on several tracks by fellow artists Avi Avital, Ksenija Sidorova and Craig Ogden.

Juan Diego Flórez was raised to the beguiling sounds of Neapolitan and Italian popular songs, joyful, sun-kissed compositions filled with life and love. The superstar Peruvian tenor, hailed by the New York Times as "king of the bel canto repertory", drew from these formative experiences while making his latest solo album for Decca. Italia summons up the spirit of sultry summer evenings by the sea. It contains such classics as O sole mio, Non ti scordar di me, Mattinata and Torna a Surriento, including several in arrangements made for Flórez's idol and mentor Luciano Pavarotti, and a sublime performance of Amore marinaro, one of Donizetti's finest Neapolitan songs. Flórez joins the illustrious company of operatic tenors Caruso, Gigli, Del Monaco and Pavarotti among them, whose recordings have secured a vast global audience for Italy's canzone popolare.
