George Benson:

Beyond the Blue Horizon (CTI: 40th Anniversary Ed)

George Benson's Beyond the Blue Horizon, 1971 and his label debut with CTI is "one of Benson s best records, with 'So What?' and 'The Gentle Rain' ... lyrical but quite hard-bitten, and with an excellent rhythm section behind him, Benson finds room to stretch out" (The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings). AllMusic.com calls it " superb jazz session... a must-hear for all aficionados of Benson s guitar." For all those who long for George Benson who played masterfully and powerfully. For all those who love the masterful guitarist who had you playing air guitar if you were a non musician and had you picking up the needle and setting it back to cop his licks, this one's for you. The selections are straight up and cooking. Ron Carter and Jack De Johnette drive the rhythm section along throughout.

George Benson:

White Rabbit ( CTI: 40th Anniversary Ed. )

Remastered for the first time using the original two-track analog tapes, the 40th Anniversary Edition of White Rabbit is packaged in a softpack sleeve that replicates the original LP and its iconic cover design. White Rabbit was a 1972 Grammy nominee for Best Jazz Performance by a Group and features the signature title track arrangement of the Jefferson Airplane classic. So many times in contemporary popular music in jazz, rock, blues, folk or beyond the man with the guitar is the fulcrum on which all other sounds and voices hinge. He's the core, the engine, the captain who leads and inspires the rest of the team. George Benson has been that man for nearly a half century. In a career that spans five decades, more than 30 recordings as a leader and ten Grammy.

George Benson:

Body Talk (CTI: 40th Anniversary Ed)

George Benson's Body Talk climbed the Billboard jazz chart to #10 in 1973, an early indication of Benson's successful move into soulful pop. With an eye and ear on what was happening on the soul charts James Brown in particular Benson made a decided swerve toward R&B on this release... It should come as no surprise by now that this formidable guitarist has no problem handling any kind of groove... Earl Klugh has a few tasty moments on his own, and there are some reconnaissance flights back to the jazz side of George, which he handles with his usual confident aplomb. (All Music Guide). This release includes an alternate take of the title track. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.
