Lisa Batiashvili :

Bach

Renowned violinist Lisa Batiashvili releases Bach, a fine selection of chamber and orchestral music by Johann Sebastian Bach and his son Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Now available on Deutsche Grammophon, the album features newly recorded Bach pieces including the first ever recording of Bach's famous aria "Erbarme Dich, mein Gott" in a transcription for violin, oboe and orchestra.

Bachalso includes the first ever recording of C.PH. E Bach's Trio Sonata in b flat minor for violin, flute and BC on Deutsche Grammophon, in which Batiashvili joins world famous flutist, Emmanuel Pahud. Lisa also collaborates with her husband, oboist Francois Leleux on the stand-out piece double concerto for violin and oboe BWV 1060.

Lisa Batiashvili gained international recognition at age 16 as the youngest-ever competitor in the Sibelius Competition, where she took second prize. In 2003 she was named winner of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival's Leonard Bernstein Award and was later awarded the Beethoven Ring Prize from the Beethoven Festival Bonn. She has continued to be recognized worldwide and has appeared at the Salzburg, Edinburgh International, Schleswig-Holstein, Heimbach and Verbier festivals, and tours regularly with musicians such as violist Lawrence Power and cellist Sebastian Klinger. Lisa's commitment to new music has seen her give several world premieres in recent seasons, including of Magnus Lindberg's Violin Concerto. Recently, Batiashvili was announced as the New York Philharmonic's 2014/15 Artist-in-Residence and will be touring the U.S. next year.
