Milan Records today releases Napoleon (Soundtrack From The Apple Original Film) by BAFTA and Ivor Novello Award-winning composer Martin Phipps. Available everywhere now, the album features an original score written by Phipps for director Ridley Scott’s action epic starring Oscar®-winner Joaquin Phoenix as the iconic French Emperor. The first collaboration between Scott and Phipps, it was important to Scott that the music reflect Napoleon’s persona as an outsider from Corsica, with Phipps incorporating traditional Corsican choirs, Ensemble Organum and Ensemble Spartimu, across the score. This emphasis on authenticity extends to the score’s instrumentation, with Phipps utilizing rougher, folk instruments like the accordion and hurdy-gurdy, as well as a piano once owned by Napoleon himself to capture the iconic ruler’s origins while creating a distinct soundscape for the film. Apple Original Films’ Napoleon is now available exclusively in theaters worldwide in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.
