Spanish conductor Pablo Heras-Casado has spent two decades studying and performing music that bridges the period between the Late Renaissance and the Early Baroque. For this album he has focused on three North German composers from this transitional period: Michael, Hieronymus and Jacob Praetorius. These nine motets and two settings of the Magnificat are performed by the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor und -Ensemble for this all-new recording on Archiv Produktion/Deutsche Grammophon.
