Philip Glass / Cocteau Trilogy

Katia and Marielle Labèque, the famous pianist sister duo with a career spanning more than fifty years, release their new album dedicated to the music of Philip Glass, completing his operatic triptych composed between 1993 and 1996, based on the films by Jean Cocteau.

After their much-acclaimed recording of Les Enfants Terribles in 2020, Katia and Marielle now present the remaining two works in the Cocteau Trilogy: Orphe´e and La Belle et la Be^te, arranged for them by Glass’ music director Michael Riesman.

With the Cocteau Trilogy, Katia and Marielle Labèque continue their exploration of the repertoire of the American repetitive composer, of whom they are major interpreters.

The Cocteau Trilogy will premiere in spring 2024 at the Philharmonie in Paris, then in Bordeaux, Metz, Dublin and London.

Dessner - El Chan

The Labèque Sisters' new album is dedicated to American composer Bryce Dessner and Academy Award-winning film director Alejandro Gonzales Iñarittú, who created the cover art. Following in the footsteps of minimalist composers such as Glass, Adams, and Reich, Dessner composed the Concerto for Two Pianos for the sisters. Recorded in 2018 with Orchestre de Paris conducted by Matthias Pintscher, the album also includes Dessner's El Chan for two pianos, and Haven for two guitars and two pianos.
