Russell Watson is back and stronger than ever with a new CD of uplifting and powerful ballads - Anthems – Music To Inspire A Nation, on Sony Music.

In honor of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebration and the upcoming Summer Olympics in London, Watson wanted to celebrate all things British. On the CD, his pride shines through on unique interpretations of sporting anthems like "Proud" and "Race To The End" -  the theme from Chariots of Fire -  alongside his epic take on the patriotic anthems of Scotland, England and Wales.

Having sold over 7 million albums worldwide, Watson is the UK's best selling classical artist ever.  He is the first artist to hold the number one slot simultaneously in the UK and USA in his respected genre.   He has performed for some of the most powerful people in the world  including the Pope, the President of the United States, King of Malaysia, the Emperor of Japan and HRH the Queen.

Watson is having a very busy year. He recently performed at the D.C. Memorial Day Concert on Capitol Hill in Washington joined by an all-star line-up including  Colin L. Powell, Natalie Cole, Trace Adkins, Selma Blair and others. The concert aired live on PBS. Following the event he was presented with an award from General Martin E. Dempsey , chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.  After completeing a few performances in celebration of the Queen's Jubilee Watson will head back to Washington D.C. to perform at America's premier birthday party concert – A Capitol Fourth – which will air live on PBS on July 4th from the U.S. Capitol. He will perform the finale song "Because We Believe."  This is a big honor for the British star as he will be helping to send off the American athletes to the London Olympics.

Despite a very exciting time on the horizon, it hasn't always been an easy road for Watson. At the height of his success in 2006, he was diagnosed with a large brain tumor. While it turned out to be benign, just one year later he was diagnosed with a second, more serious and aggressive brain tumor which nearly took the life of the father of two daughters. He is proud to be back and looks forward to going back on tour.
