Like the other two Weber sisters, Josepha came from Mannheim. And also from Mannheim comes Sarah Traubel, the young coloratura soprano who has just released a CD with arias that made the Hofer famous, including both of the Queen of the Night. Also included is an aria dedicated by Mozart to "Madame Hofer" and others from forgotten works such as Der Spiegel von Arkadien (Franz Xaver Süssmayr), The Loving Surprise ossia Il natale d´Apollo (Vincenzo Righini), Das Labyrinth oder der Kamp mit den Elementen. Der Zauberflöte Zweyter Theil (Peter von Winter), Der beiden Antone oder der Name thut nicht zur Sache (Benedikt Schack-Franz Xaer Gerl) and Oberon, König der Elfen (Paul Wranitzky).

The interest of this repertoire resides in that, listening to it, listeners can enter the world of the singspiel of the An der Wien theater , a universe so little documented in terms of recordings, and yet so important to understand the time and context within from which emerged the perennial Magic Flute.

As in the case of the arias of the Queen of the Night, the inclusion of Dove sono ( Weddings of Figaro ) and Ah forgives the cousin affetto ( Clemenza di Tito ) allow us to compare this young and assertive voice with the divas of the past and present . And in terms of comparisons Traubel resists the most excellent with a Martern aller Arten  anthologically sung and directed ,also included in this album. This is a voice that reminds Rita Streich or the young Sena Jurinac of its timbre clarity and attack force, and surely deserves a similar praise to Mozart's Hofer. Well-established colorations, precisely marked trills, firm legations and an urgent and luminous orchestral direction make this album a valuable and exhilarating contribution to current record literature.
