The DJs at Central Coast Public Radio: KCBX clearly love to explore and enthusiastically share new music. Here are some of their picks for the top albums and songs of 2020. Craig Russell, host of KCBX In Concert selects; Chris Brubeck, "Affinity: Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra" with guitar soloist Sharon Isbin and The Maryland Symphony Orchestra on Zoho, for his category top songs and works.

The title work, Affinity: Concerto for Guitar & Orchestra by Chris Brubeck, was premiered by Isbin in April 2015 with the Maryland Symphony/Elizabeth Schulze. The recording marks Strathmore Concert Hall's first commercial release. Isbin and Brubeck both wanted a work that had a global approach to the guitar and was not confined to one style. Inspired by Sharon's fascination with science, Brubeck entitled the work Affinity based on the scientific definition as "An attraction or force between particles that causes them to combine." Her live performances of the work have been praised in reviews for "Isbin delivering rapid-fire virtuosity and a tender jazz-based tribute to Chris' father Dave Brubeck."
