Southpaw is the story of Billy "The Great" Hope, the world's reigning Light Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World. He has an impressive career, a loving wife and daughter, and a lavish lifestyle. However, when a tragedy knocks Billy for a loop, he finds himself at rock-bottom. Billy finds an unlikely savior in Tick Willis, a former fighter who currently trains the toughest amateur boxers around. With his future on the line, Billy fights to reclaim the trust of those he loves the most. Southpaw stars Academy Award® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain, Nightcrawler, Love & Other Drugs) Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, Bird, The Butler) and Rachel McAdams (Midnight in Paris, Sherlock Holmes,True Detective) along with rapper 50 Cent and British pop star Rita Ora. Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer), Southpaw opens in theaters nationwide on July 24.
