Elegante is a variegated, polychromatic depiction of Susan Palma-Nidel's, (Orpheus Chamber Orchestra) aural vision of South American music, past and present. Treasures from two of the continent's historic composers, Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brazil) and Agustin Barrios (Paraguay), are feature. The album is complimented by contemporary works of Pablo Ziegler, Paquito d'Rivera and Quique Sinesi, and bookended by two Ivan Lins pieces that he composed, sung and recited. Special guests include, Branford Marsalis, Cyro Baptisto, Hector del Cuerto & others. The title comes from the Pablo Ziegler composition 'Elegante Canyenguito' which was originally written for piano, guitar and bandoneon, and is here arranged for Flute and String Quartet.
