We are indigenous to South Louisiana. We would like to show the world that we can make progressive music that also embraces this region's French-speaking tradition. We are joining a small but fervent group of young Louisianians engaged in keeping the language relevant via art. Also we would like to drink whiskey and dance all the time.
South Louisiana natives and indie pop six-piece, Sweet Crude release their Verve Forecast label debut single, "Rougarou." The track presents a darker, more mature sound for Sweet Crude, mirroring the supernatural rougarou, a werewolf-like creature from Louisiana folklore. The single is from the band's upcoming 2020 full-length project and you can listen to the song here.
Fronted by vocalist Alexis Marceaux and multi-instrumentalist Sam Craft, Sweet Crude is a drum-infused, bilingual band that takes their native music and language and produces a completely fresh sound that thrusts century-old traditions into the present. Sweet Crude delivers exciting shows featuring exuberantly bellowed harmonies, and lyrics that jump from English to Louisiana French all over New Orleans rhythms. Rounding off the musically multi-faceted group is Jack Craft (Keys), Stephen MacDonald(Bass), David Shirley (Drums) and Skyler Stroup (Trumpet/keys/drums).
