Milan Records today announces the release of INFINITY POOL (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) with music by award-winning Canadian composer and musician TIM HECKER. Available Friday, January 27, the soundtrack features music written by Hecker for director Brandon Cronenberg’s twisted thriller about a couple’s island vacation gone horribly wrong. With a resume of solo work spanning 10 studio albums, Hecker’s unique approach to ambient, electronic songcraft lends itself perfectly to the otherworldly, dystopian setting of the film. Across the album’s 22 tracks, Hecker has crafted a sonic palette often rife with contradictions in sounds, the result of which is a collection that both emulates the alienness of the island and heightens the nightmarish onscreen story. Infinity Pool will make its worldwide debut at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival before premiering in theaters on Friday, January 27 from NEON.

Of the soundtrack, composer TIM HECKER says, “Working on Infinity Pool involved finding a speculative sonic palette for this imaginary island state. Part of this was working with the film’s director Brandon Cronenberg to develop hybrid vocal synthetic sounds that were confusedly vintage and also possible future dystopian. This manifested also in developing a type of cicada-laden backwoods Baltic banjo that permeates the score.”

ABOUT INFINITY POOL - While staying at an isolated island resort, James (Alexander Skarsgård) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman) are enjoying a perfect vacation of pristine beaches, exceptional staff, and soaking up the sun. But guided by the seductive and mysterious Gabi (Mia Goth), they venture outside the resort grounds and find themselves in a culture filled with violence, hedonism, and untold horror. A tragic accident leaves them facing a zero tolerance policy for crime: either you’ll be executed, or, if you’re rich enough to afford it, you can watch yourself die instead.
